Course Summary
This qualification is designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to provide clinical supervision for counselling practitioners. It is aimed at counsellors who have acquired sufficient client work experience to contemplate the move into a clinical supervision role.
This qualification is designed to lead to a role as a clinical supervisor in a counselling agency or in independent practice. Supervision is an ongoing professional requirement for all practising counsellors and those with a recognised qualification are more likely to find employment.

Entry Requirements
As this is a post qualifying course, you must be a qualified counsellor/ psychotherapist and have full membership with a counselling or psychotherapy professional body (e.g., BACP, NCPS, UKCP, etc.), having completed your core training (i.e. a minimum of a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling).
You must also have at least two years of post-qualifying experience of supervised client work along with a minimum of 40hrs of personal therapy during or after your core training.
Applicants will have ideally completed a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma qualification, however this is not mandatory.

Assessment Process
Students will be assessed through a variety of methods, including:
- Sessional reflective journals
- A 3,000 word externally assessed case review
- A 2,500 word supervision theory essay
- A 2,500 word personal philosophy of supervision essay

Additional Course Requirements
In addition to attending the course, students will be required to fulfil the following requirements (which are financed by the student):
- Engage in at least 5hrs of consultative supervison to support your supervisory work
- Facilitate 15hrs of clinical supervision with supervisees (in private practice or an organisational role)

Theoretical Orientation
This course is non-modality specific and provides an covers the main models of clinical supervision, to supplement practitioners' existing theoretical approach and understanding.
