Course Summary
This workshop will give candidates an understanding of why clients self harm and the signs and symptoms to look out for when working with clients who are self harming. We will explore how as counsellors we can support clients who are self harming to manage their distress and techniques to help them self soothe.
Topics Covered
By the end of the course, candidates shall have greater awareness, understanding and skills in enabling them to support clients who are self harming. Topics covered include:
- Assessing risk levels and appropriate responses
- Understanding the nature of self-harming behaviours
- The role of psychoeducation and safety behaviours

Entry Requirements
As this is an introductory course, there are no entry requirements for this course in terms of qualifications or experience.
