Course Summary
This workshop will give candidates an understanding of assessing risk and an awareness of the signs and symptoms to look out for when working with clients who have expressed or experienced suicidal ideation. We will explore how as counsellors we can support clients who are at risk of suicidal ideation to manage and reduce their distress.
Topics Covered
By the end of the course, candidates shall have greater awareness, understanding and skills in enabling them to work with clients who have expressed or experienced suicidal ideation. Topics covered include:
- Utilising a risk management framework
- Assessing levels of risk and responses
- Safety planning and interventions available

Entry Requirements
Suitable for qualified counsellors or trainee counsellors in year 1 of Level 4 or above.
